EMBARK ON AN INTELLECTUAL JOURNEY
Welcome aboard the Queen Elizabeth II, one of the most iconic ocean liners in history, and now our floating campus for our first Dubai summer school. QEII is permanently docked here in Dubai and we will spend the week connecting ideas in economics and finance, just as this ship once connected continents.
The setting is just extraordinary and it will inspire us as we begin our John Locke journey together.

Economics & Finance:
THINKING WELL
This course introduces students to the academic study of economics and finance. We focus on mastering the key principles of the subject and mastering the art of writing persuasively on economic questions.
We will investigate the factors that drive a free-market economy and examine the tools governments use, with varying degrees of success, to increase efficiency, promote faster growth, mitigate inequality, produce public goods and correct externalities.
The course includes political economy, microeconomics, macroeconomics, growth theory, strategic game theory, mathematics-for-economics, public policy, and financial economics.
FACULTY
The Institute's Summer Course in Dubai will be taught by Martin Cox, John Locke Institute’s Director General, in partnership with distinguished professors from Britain and America’s most prestigious universities. Professors will include those who teach regularly for the John Locke Institute at our courses in Oxford, Princeton and Washington DC, accompanied by a team of talented and dedicated academic preceptors, who support our professors.

A DAY IN THE LIFE
OF A JLI STUDENT
Each day includes lectures on microeconomics, macroeconomics, game theory, public policy, and mathematics for economics. Students participate in precepts, interactive discussions, and group outings to foster collaboration.
Beyond the classroom, they will discover Dubai itself and explore some of its most iconic landmarks and venturing into the desert for an unforgettable safari.
The programme concludes with a certificate ceremony and a gala dinner, ensuring a well-rounded, enriching experience for all participants.
