Position Summary
The Digital Marketing Manager will develop, manage, and optimise the John Locke Institute’s digital marketing efforts across web, email, paid media, SEO, SEM, and other digital channels. The role focuses on crafting high-quality web content, maintaining and improving the website, and delivering data-driven digital campaigns.
You will also support event communications leading up to and during major JLI events, manage segmentation strategies and contact lists, and collaborate closely with the Social Media Marketing Manager, Event Managers, and Admissions teams to ensure consistency and effectiveness across all communications.
Key Responsibilities

Digital Strategy & Campaigns
Develop and execute JLI’s digital marketing strategy across web, email, and digital advertising channels.
Plan, launch, and optimise SEO and SEM campaigns to increase website visibility, search ranking, and lead generation.
Manage paid digital advertising campaigns (Google Ads, display networks, remarketing, etc.) to drive awareness and conversion.
Create and manage email marketing campaigns to engage prospective students, educators, parents, and partners.
Analyse performance metrics across digital channels to improve reach, engagement, and ROI.
Collaborate with the Social Media Marketing Manager to align messaging and coordinate campaign timing.

Website & Content Management
Create, edit, and publish high-quality web content that clearly communicates JLI’s programmes, events, and achievements.
Maintain and update the JLI website (CMS/WordPress), ensuring pages are accurate, engaging, and aligned with brand standards.
Optimise the website for user experience (UX), SEO, and lead conversion.
Develop landing pages and digital assets to support marketing, admissions, and event campaigns.
Ensure website analytics and tracking are properly implemented and used for performance evaluation.

Event Communications
Support digital communications and promotional activities leading up to JLI’s global events (summer schools, essay competitions, conferences, etc.).
Coordinate event-related email campaigns, announcements, registration reminders, and follow-ups.
Provide digital communication support during live events, ensuring timely updates and professional digital presence.
Collaborate with Event Managers to align digital strategies with event timelines and participant engagement goals.

Email Marketing & CRM Management
Design and implement a robust segmentation strategy for JLI audiences (students, educators, parents, alumni, and partners).
Maintain accurate and up-to-date contact lists and CRM data to ensure precise targeting.
Track and report on campaign performance and list health (open rates, engagement metrics, unsubscribe trends, etc.).
Collaborate with the Admissions team to coordinate applicant communications and nurture prospective leads.

Programme Logistics
Develop and execute a comprehensive social media strategy to enhance brand visibility and engagement across platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, etc.).

Cross-Department Coordination
Facilitate communication between different teams to support programme execution.

Participant Experience & Community Engagement
Ensure that every JLI event provides a world-class educational experience and reflects the Institute’s values.
Develop strategies to enhance participant engagement before, during, and after events.
Support post-event communications, surveys, and feedback collection to inform future improvements.
Contribute to community-building efforts by fostering ongoing relationships with alumni, educators, and partners.

Collaboration & Coordination
Partner closely with:
Social Media Marketing Manager to maintain consistent brand messaging and integrated campaign delivery.
Event Managers to ensure digital marketing supports event promotion and communications.
Admissions teams to streamline lead capture, conversion, and follow-up.
Manage external vendors, web developers, or creative partners as needed for specialised digital projects.
Qualifications & Experience

Proven experience in digital marketing, SEO/SEM, and campaign management, ideally within education, nonprofit, or academic settings.

Demonstrated ability to manage and optimise digital marketing channels such as email, paid search, display advertising, and content marketing.

Strong writing and editing skills with the ability to produce engaging, high-quality email and web content.

Proficiency with tools such as:

CMS platforms (WordPress preferred)

Google Ads and Google Analytics (including GA4)

Email marketing platforms (Mailchimp or equivalent)

CRM systems and data segmentation

Understanding of SEO best practices, keyword research, and performance tracking.
